JAL
In Hinduism there are five important elements (panchbhuta) of nature .They are Jal (Water),Agni (Fire),Prithvi (Earth),Vayu (Wind) and Akash(Sky). Children you all know that the panchabhuta/tatv play a significant role in our life-cycle.
In Hindu Mythology Lord Varuna is considered as the God of all forms of water.Jal or Water plays an integral role in all the hindu rituals since it is believed that it is a purifier,life-giver and destroyer of evil. Majority of the holy places of Hindus are located near water resources. Many rivers like Ganga ,Yamuna, Kaveri, Tapti and the mythical Saraswati are considered holy. The "Kumbh mela" which occurs once in 12 years in Prayag(Allahabad)is considered to be world's largest gathering of mankind at one place. It happens at 'Sangam' where the sacred rivers Ganga,Yamuna and Saraswati meet. The ganges is the most sacred river and it is believed that it contains healing power. The water brings life as trees and flowers bloom and crops grow.
Children now that summer holidays have started you must be feeling the need of drinking and playing with water. If you look around you will find that water has become a scarcity in so many places. The common people have to carry potable water from far-off places. The temperatures are rising and melting glaciers, lakes and rivers are drying, oceans are contaminating. Mankind is busy in development and compromising on environment........Let us pledge to save each and every drop of water.
