Vijaynagar Empire
Almost 1000 years ago in
eleventh century AD, Bharat
was in great danger. Bharat was
invaded from the north west by
foreigners such as Muhammad
Ghazni and Muhammad Ghori
who wanted to conquer Bharat
and loot all her wealth. By
1310 , the Moguls were
attacking the Deccan plateau,
ransacking and looting the
temple towns of south Bharat. Two brothers, Hakka and Bukka
fought valiantly against the
invaders and with the help of
their guru defeated the
enemies .
Hakka and Bukka
setup the Vijaynagar empire
extending from the west coast to
the east that lasted for almost
300 years.
T h e Vi j a y n a g a r e m p i r e
provided very good governance
by having a well functioning
administration. Culture, arts,
literature reached new heights
and Carnatic music evolved into
its current form.
The Vijaynagar empire united
the people of south Bharat and
beyond by promoting Hinduism
as a unifying factor.
Hakka and Bukka were patriots
who won both war and peace
and established one of most
prosperous empires in the world
Today, Bharat is again going
through some very difficult
times. Corruption , security of
women and children, invasions
from neighboring countries are
some of many issues facing us.
Just like Hakka and Bukka , can
we also unite the people of
Bharat and build a strong
prosperous nation ?
